Give a big hello to Hill City Comics & Cards in Thunder Bay, ON. Built their new Shopify site and moved everything into Manage Comics: customers, pull lists, and products, working alongside owner Robert Quinn.

He runs a massive inventory, with real golden age and silver age gems: Eeries, Creepies, Boris Karloff Presents among them.

Custom Metafields

If you sell specialty products with details that matter to a customer but don't fit a standard product listing (slabbed and graded comics, CCG or TTRPG minis, anything with its own data), this is what solves it.

For Hill City specifically: tracking age and grade, CGC scoring details, key issue information, and showing only what's relevant per item. A non-key issue doesn't need a wall of key-info fields cluttering the page. That's the actual design problem custom metafields solve: not just storing more data, but knowing when to show it.
